Replace to Reduce – Hadaba needs your help!

In February 2010 HEPCA took over the solid waste collection and removal in Hadaba. The narrow streets and limited open spaces in Hadaba means that conventional collection methods now deployed elsewhere in Hurghada (large containers which are emptied by compactor lorries) are simply not possible in Hadaba. The existing system where each building has its own 120 litre containers in sufficient quantity for the number of residents has worked well and the level of rubbish on the streets in Hadaba has been massively reduced. However, in recent months the situation has deteriorated due to the disappearance, destruction or damage to these containers. With nowhere to dispose of the rubbish residents and doormen are simply dumping it on the street and expecting it to “go away”. The HEPCA street cleaning crews are working constantly to control the level of dumped garbage sometimes covering busy streets 3 or 4 times a day. But the lack of cooperation of the community and the reduced number of containers makes this an almost impossible task. HEPCA is therefore requesting YOUR help. Please Replace your bins to Reduce the rubbish on the streets. If your building no longer has sufficient rubbish containers, please contact Multitrade on 065 344 2348 or 01003995677. The shop is situated on the Airport Rd, between School St and Rajac School. They have stocks of RED wheelie bins for sale for the special price of 150LE (please mention HEPCA when you order to ensure you get the discount). You can request assistance from HEPCA for delivery of your new bins – once you have placed your order and paid for your new bins HEPCA will collect them and bring them to Hadaba. Please coordinate with your neighbours to reduce the number of trips. You can organize this by contacting the email address below. We recommend the purchase of the red bins as the material is stronger and more resilient than some of the lighter weight black wheelie bins. However, it is also possible to buy any similar bin from another supplier – prices range start from 120LE, which will also be emptied as part of the normal HEPCA crews function. For larger volumes of garbage, please use the 770ltr red metal containers placed at intervals along School St. As soon as more are delivered this number will be increased. Community participation is KEY to ensuring that the streets of Hadaba are clean, safe and healthy for all residents and visitors and we thank you wholeheartedly for your cooperation. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR WISH TO REPORT A PROBLEM WITH THE WASTE MANAGEMENT IN YOUR AREA, PLEASE EMAIL HEPCA ON swm@hepca.com.
