Helwa Ya Baladi initiative

on Saturday, 16.07.2016, the 'Helwa Ya Baladi' initiative was launched, with participation of many ministries, state institutions and civil society institutions. The initiative was the largest one for cleanliness and beauty of the streets, and all the governorates of Egypt participated in it. In our Red Sea Governorate the campaign aimed to show the civilized face of the Red Sea and to focus on the continuity of the efforts and activities even after the week is over. Here we specify the main achievements that were done in the week of the initiative. HEPCA Activities and participation on the initiative were as follows: - Collection of 600 tons of garbage per day and +200 tons of building/construction waste - Planting of new trees in various areas throughout Hurghada. - Organizing of 'Beach Clean-Up' for the public beaches. - Organizing a 'Mega Island Clean-Up' in cooperation with the Red Sea protectors, the Directorate of state for youth and some hotels and diving centers. The clean up was done with the participation of 150 volunteers and collected 2 tons of plastic waste. - Daily cleaning campaigns in the areas of Mubarak, 11, 12 and 13, Hafr Al-Batin, behind The Libyan center, the stadium area, Abul Abbas, and EL Kahf Street. - Distribution of 50 new plastic trash bins in the major streets of Hurghada, such as Shertaon Street and El-Mamsha - Big cleaning campaigns and planting of new trees in the city of Marsa Alam. Special Thanks to Hurghada City council, Red Sea Governorate, Marsa Alam city council and the Red Sea protectors for their cooperation with us in this initiative
