Earth Day 2011

On April 22nd 2011 the whole world will be celebrating Earth Day. Since 1990, Earth Day has been used to honour our natural environment for its beauty and biodiversity. Here in the Red Sea, the 22nd of April holds special meaning for us as it was the day the Red Sea community managed to save Giftun Island in 2004. Every day human beings take advantage of the resources mother earth has provided without giving back to her. Therefore, we should seize the chance and do something for our environment on the day dedicated to our Earth. This year there will be one big cleanup-event off the Hurghada coast on Abu Monkar Island, in front of the New Marina. Water Taxi will provide “shuttle buses” to the island starting from 9am leaving every 10 minutes in front of Star Bar (New Marina, Hurghada) to get you to Abu Monkar and back. There will also be self-organised clean-ups all over the Egyptian Red Sea carried out by dive centres, hotels, water sport centres… We are very happy to have received so many positive replies from facilities all along the coast, which will do cleanups with their guests, staff and friends. If your company would like to organise a cleanup for Earth Day 2011, please contact info@hepca.com!
