Discarded fishing nets in Hurghada

We've been receiving many reports of discarded fishing nets around the area of Hurghada recently. Discarded fishing nets makes no distinctions, capturing marine mammals, turtles, birds, sharks, rays, invertebrate, crustaceans and many other creatures have been found trapped in Discarded fishing nets. In the past few weeks; HEPCA's mooring unit team has conducted several cleanups and removal to these nets and lines. The latest operations was removing a huge discarded fishing net yesterday from the southern part of Magawish and this morning from the area located between Gaisum and El Sawaki. Discarded Fishing nets will continue to accumulate and the impacts on the Red Sea's ecosystems will continue to get worse if the Red Sea's community doesn't take effective steps to deal with the marine debris in general and the discarded fishing nets and lines in particular You can help us by reporting any discarded nets or lines to our page or by volunteering to join our upcoming cleanup campaigns We rely on you and your contribution is highly appreciated
