Discover the scientific and educational hub of the Egyptian Red Sea - HEPCA’s Marine Research Station

In its efforts to promote science and awareness, HEPCA, the Italian Cooperation in Egypt, and the Egyptian Resorts Community (ERC) is proud to present the plans for a brand new marine research station at Sahl Hasheesh. The center will benefit both the local and scientific communities by providing facilities for research, communication, and appreciation of science. The station aims at providing a stable, continuous, conservation-focused scientific and educational presence, accessible to both foreign and local universities for partnership and consultation. This community science center will allow visitors to enjoy exhibitions, participate in seminars, courses and screenings, as well as get in touch with resident and visiting scientists. The overall aim is for the center to promote and preserve the Red Sea’s natural beauty.

Research Facilities

Laboratories, meeting rooms and accommodation will be available for scientists and students. 625m2 of wet labs, chemical and bio labs will be equipped with instruments on the cutting edge of technology. Part of the building is to be completely dedicated to research and closed to the public. The center will also include a library, a multi-functional room ideal for lectures and seminars, and a computer and researcher’s room.

Educational Facilities

Adequate spaces have been integrated into the design for educational activities: courses for school excursions and visiting students will be held in the auditorium, classrooms as well as in the designated educational laboratory.

Visitor Facilities

Exhibitions (indoor and outdoor) and special evenings will be held on a regular basis. Numerous facilities will serve the visitors, including a cafeteria and restaurant. Disabled access and services will be a available.
